
Born in Tokyo in 1959. She has been writing poetry, novels, and essays since Msayo Koike’s first collection of poetry, Mizu no Machi kara Arukidashite (start walking from the city of water), and is currently a lecturer at Rissho University and Musashino Art University (Language Expression and Criticism). She received the Takami Jun Literary Award for her fourth volume of poetry, More Sensual Room, and later the Hagiwara Sakutaro Award for her volume of poetry, Kolkata, which was inspired by a trip to Kolkata, India. Her short story collection Tatado (the name of a seaside in Shizuoka Prefecture) won the Kawabata Yasunari Prize for Literature, and her full-length novel Tamamono (an extraordinary gift) won the Izumi Kyoka Prize for Literature. Her latest novel is Kutakake (about a disturbing man and a chicken who join the family / 2023), and her latest collection of poems is Red Cow and Mass (2020). In recent years, she has been working on Japanese classical literature, especially waka poetry, and is now writing a modern novel based on waka poetry and a modern translation of waka poetry, moving back and forth between the modern and ancient worlds.
小池昌代1959年生於日本東京深川,畢業於津田塾大學國際關係學科。大學畢業就職後開始詩歌寫作,至今已出版詩集、小說集和繪本等數十種。1989年與詩人林浩平、渡邊十絲子創辦同仁詩歌雜誌《Mignon》。1997年首本詩集《永遠不來的公交車》獲得第15屆「現代詩花椿獎」,2000年詩集《最性感的房間》獲得第30屆「高見順現代詩獎」,2001年隨筆集《誘惑到房頂》獲得第17屆「講談社散文獎」,2008年詩集《Baba、Basara、Saraba》獲得第10屆「小野十三郎詩歌獎」,2010年,為配合日本NHK電視台前往印度、印度尼西亞現地採訪時創作的詩集《加爾各答》獲得第18屆「萩原朔太郎詩歌獎」。其中小說《多多戶》獲得第33屆「川端康成文學獎」。 小池昌代被認為是日本現代文壇跨文本寫作最作活躍和令人注目的詩人和作家之一,同時還兼任過幾所大學的特聘教授。
