Hunanese Liu Xiyan studied traditional Chinese culture in his early age before shifting to traditional Chinese medical science. He then became a traditional Chinese silk-stringed qin instrument apprentice of the great Wu school Taoist-music master Wang Duo. In recent years, he contributes to promoting traditional Chinese silk-stringed qin ceremony with his mentor, participating in Wang Duo Silk-stringed Guqin Teacher-Student Concert in Hong Kong, Silk-stringed Guqin Special Concert in Nanjing and Shanghai. Liu is also engaged in literary creative writing and traditional Chinese medicine research. He is the author of The Book of Medical Heart, The King’s Collection, and The Great Medical Science in Simple Words—Liu Xiyan on Shanghan Lun.
劉希彥，湖湘人士，幼時學文，及長學醫，又隨吳派傳統絲弦琴家汪鐸學琴，主修道家琴曲。近年來隨師推廣傳統絲弦琴道，參加香港「汪鐸絲弦古琴師生音樂會」，南京「絲桐雅韻絲弦古琴專場音樂會」，北京「太古遺音絲弦古琴專場音樂會」，上海「執古之道絲弦古琴音樂會」。亦從事文學創作和中醫研究，著有《醫心帖》、《國王的收藏》、《大醫至簡——劉希彥解讀傷寒論》。
